VJORLA [break] WHAT DOES YOUR CHARACTER MEAN TO THEIR CIVILIZATION? [break] Vjorla is required, but feared as well. She is known as being merciless and unforgiving, and not terribly generous but her people know that without her, they would not survive due to the fact that she brings and controls the Winter season. She try to keep her happy so that the Winters will not be too harsh, but otherwise avoid bringing her up or praying to her unless necessary. She is prayed to for matters regarding Winter and fear, most frequently for lack of fear and for a short winter. [break][break] WHAT LEGENDS REVOLVE AROUND YOUR CHARACTER? [break] The Norse believe that there was once an eternal Summer, and that their lands and nature were dying. They prayed to the Gods, any God, that something would be done to save their world and refresh their lands. The Gods sent a snowflake down to earth, and where it touched the dried ground Vjorla was born. With her came a five year winter, during which time the land was given a chance to recover and regenerate. However during that winter, most of the Norse people of the time died of cold and lack of food, and so they prayed that Vjorla would only visit them for part of the year, instead of all the time. Vjorla granted their wish, but in return she made their short winters harsh and cruel, and also created fear in the world to remind them that though she was not always there, she was always watching and waiting for her time to come. It is said that if you say Vjorla's name aloud when you are not praying, you will freeze to death before the year is over. It is said that Vjorla has only visited earth in her true form (not as the season of Winter) once since she was born, and that when she was there she mated with an entire wolf-pack. From her was born the Seven Wolves of Winter, great white beasts that roam in a pack together when Winter is upon the earth. Each wolf is named after one of Vjorla's body parts, and it is considered extremely good luck if you see a wolf pack made up on entirely white wolves, for it means they are born of the Seven. If you see a pack of seven white wolves, you are considered blessed by Vjorla. [break][break] HOW WAS YOUR CHARACTER BORN/CREATED? [break] A snowflake sent by the Norse Gods fell to earth, and where it fell Vjorla was born. [break][break] WHAT DOES YOUR GOD LOOK LIKE? [break] Very pale, creamy skin without a single blemish. Dark brown hair, near black in most lights. Long and faintly waved. It is thick and wild in manner, and is frequently adorned with raven feathers. Not matter where she is, there are always snowflakes resting on Vjorla's body. Slender and tall, she is cat-like and elegant in her movement, and moves with a purpose at all times. Her features are sharp and severe, with a pointed jaw and large hazel-blue eyes. It is an incredibly rare thing to witness a smile on her wrinkle-less face, and she wears primarily black clothing in black lace and black animal furs and leathers. [break][break] WHAT DOES YOUR GOD ACT LIKE? [break] Vjorla is a generally unapproachable, unlikable creature. She is impatient, judgmental, cruel, passionate, headstrong, and unpredictable. She does what she pleases when she pleases, and has little regard for the welfare and pleasure of others. She is exceedingly intelligent and charismatic, and will happily run circles around the less-intelligent Gods. She enjoys amusement at the expense of others, and cares little for the welfare of her people. She tends towards being hermit-like during Summer, Spring, and Fall but it a common figure of power during the winter seasons. [break][break] WHAT ARE THEIR PRIMARY DUTIES TO THEIR PEOPLE? [break] Vjorla brings Winter to the Norse culture, and also answers prayers regarding Fear. [break][break] WHAT POWERS DOES YOUR CHARACTER POSSESS? [break] Being the Goddess of the Winter season, her powers primarily center around winter-like things such as snow, ice, cold, and wind. She uses these powers to control Winter for her people. She also has the ability to give and remove fear at will. [break][break] HAVE YOU READ ALL THE SITE RULES? [break] Well I wrote them, so I sure HOPE I read them!
