we built this town tag: VJORLA // words: --- // notes: the between has been changed into a plain meadow set in what appears to be spring Ethereal dust circled the featureless landscape, eclipsing the soft edges of the cloudy scenery before taking shape. Solid ground formed covered in soft grasses, wispy weeds, and blooming flowers. The ground shook with harmless tremors as trees and their roots claimed portions of the conjured clearing. To the sky, their branches reached and soon became home to chirruping songbirds. A forest sprouted one by one around her, all taking on a shape of the shape of a familiar place she held so very dearly to her heart.
The goddess stood by, waiting for her creation to come to a sluggish end. Vár hated watching the end to the only thing she had the power to create from nothing. It was a small ounce of joy she felt whenever she morphed the Between but it was joy that resonated with a sense of equality. For the brief passing of time it endured, she was among the ranks of the great creators, the ones who shaped humanity's terra and the humans themselves! Oh, what she would give to be seated among the upper tier. To be loved and feared like a child would of their parents. Vár, however, was just the everlasting presence among the people that was quickly fading from their moralities with each passing decade.
Contracts were once something that caused or ended wars. They were what held two cities in alliance despite the tense atmosphere that surrounded their people. Marriage, the realm of love she so loyally fought to defend, was now seen as meaningless to the majority of the modern time heathens. Infidelity was rampant in their era. Out of wedlock, couples flaunted themselves among the streets with only a dutiful few speaking out about it. It was for those reasons the goddess of oaths, contracts, purity, and marriage chose to remain as far from the mortals as possible.
It was for those reasons that she played a hand in spreading the distance between earth and her judgmental self for if she had persevered and let her presence be known, perhaps she could look fondly upon the prosperous world below them with the warmth and love she should have.
