Serket [break] WHAT DOES YOUR CHARACTER MEAN TO THEIR CIVILIZATION? [break] Where Serket's name literally means "She who tightens the throat", it also means "She who causes the throat to breath". Both of these translations show what venom can do to a person. Depending on which way you use it, it can either kill someone in an instant, while using it in small portions, it can serve as a great anti-venom. Because of this, the Egyptians saw Serket as one of their most important gods, for the scorpions that hid everywhere in the desert could strike at any time, and only by keeping the Goddess of Venom happy, they could keep themselves from dying a terrible death. [break][break] WHAT LEGENDS REVOLVE AROUND YOUR CHARACTER? [break] Serket was the goddess who assisted Isis at the birth of Horus. After this, she protected the god against scorpions, and other sources of poison and venom. Because of this, Egyptian women often sought assistance from Serket during childbirth. [break][break] HOW WAS YOUR CHARACTER BORN/CREATED? [break] Serket was created by Ra, just like Ra created countless of other beings and things. How she was created is unknown. [break][break] WHAT DOES YOUR GOD LOOK LIKE? [break] Serket looks like a brunette in her twenties. She used to have long, black hair, but with she changes her appearance to fit with the current times quite often. Her clothes are usually fancy and expensive looking, though she does change them ever so often, just to fit in better in a certain situation. Her sacred, Egyptian clothes are very different though, but she only tends to wear these in times of war. These clothes consist of thin fabrics, sharp golden nails, golden sandals, metal arm blades, and a scorpion tail made of metal. [break][break] WHAT DOES YOUR GOD ACT LIKE? [break] The Goddess of Venom never stings someone who doesn't deserve it. She's quite fair when it comes to her decisions about things like this, and towards those who haven't done anything wrong, she's often incredibly kind. To the gods and goddesses of the Between, Serket is known to throw lovely tea parties, and she's pleasant company. When someone wrongs her though, Serket takes a completely different turn. She will stay as kind as she was before, but the goddess won't hesitate one second about poisoning those who wronged her. And she will especially enjoy watching that person choke and faint. And being a goddess who is quite fond of herself, wronging her isn't too hard. Queen Cleopatra once dared to call herself more beautiful than Serket, and she ended up dying by a snake's poison. [break][break] WHAT ARE THEIR PRIMARY DUTIES TO THEIR PEOPLE? [break] Serket's primary duty used to be to protect the pharaohs and her followers from venom and poison. Now that there are no pharaohs anymore, she uses her powers to protect people she likes, and make those who deserve it suffer a painful death. [break][break] WHAT POWERS DOES YOUR CHARACTER POSSESS? [break] At power level 1: Serket can control venomous creatures (one at a time), and she can talk to her followers. [break][break] At power level 2: Serket can control groups of venomous creatures, and she can appear as a normal-sized scorpion to anyone, and as a human to her followers. [break][break] At power level 3: Serket can appear as a human to all humans, and can poison people, making them sick. [break][break] At power level 4: Serket can control large armies of venomous creatures, and cause paralysis to gods and humans.
