IRIS [break] WHAT DOES YOUR CHARACTER MEAN TO THEIR CIVILIZATION? [break] Though many would doubt the goddess of rainbows to be an important part of civilization, Iris is in fact one of the most important minor goddesses. Iris is the link between the gods and humanity, the bridge between the two worlds. She is a divine messenger, who brings messeges not only to other gods but to mortals as well. However she was also chosen to carry the ceremonial vase of water from the river Styx, in order for the other gods and goddesses to swear by. She is also connected to both the sea and the sky due to her parentage. [break][break] WHAT LEGENDS REVOLVE AROUND YOUR CHARACTER? [break] Iris is the twin sister of Arke, whom betrayed the Olympians during the Titanomachy, and became the messenger goddess of the Titans. As Iris is Goddess of the Rainbow she is the conjoinment between the place of the gods, and mankind; she often can be seen restoring calm and balance to the many forces of nature after a heavy storm. While she was not the main cup bearer Iris was known to take the job on from time to time and pour nectar for the gods, as she was also Handmaiden to the Goddess Hera.
